Butterkase originated in Germany and is still made throughout Germany and Austria. It’s name means “butter cheese”. It has a creamy butter like texture and flavor that goes well with most foods. This butterkase is produced in Wisconsin in the Alpine tradition. Melts nicely and can be served with cured meats, grapes, melons, plums, or sourdough bread. May be paired with white wines such as Semillon, Chardonay, or Rhine; pilsner or other light beers.Cut from 6 pound bricks, sold by the pound, weights vary.
